Why join this program?

You’ve had an idea for a newsletter, podcast, video series, or book brewing in your head for months, maybe years. But work, kids and life get in the way. Despite the desire, you’re finding it tough to get off the ground and then wonder if anyone will even consume what you create. We get it. We’ve been there ourselves and know it can seem overwhelming.

Which is why we’ve built a program to help you start and build the momentum to continue on your own. It has been designed based on our own experiences, and conversations with several successful creators. In short, we equip you with the tools to take your idea from “Episode 1.doc” to a link you can share with the world.

Register for the next cohort, starting 11 January.

Meet your mentors

We’ve built global 2% content projects across formats while balancing demanding day jobs.

Our projects across platforms have millions of listens and reads. We’ve guided others - notably as mentors for Spotify - IFP’s Podcast Lab program. We’ve spent a decade turning unique worldviews, interests and curiosities into content. And now we bring those learnings to you.

Utsav Mamoria

You may know him from:

Postcards from Nowhere (India's leading Travel, Culture and History podcast) and Smartphone Nation (an award-winning podcast)

Utsav took his love for slow travel and turned it into a beloved podcast that has over 500k listens. He also co-hosts a branded podcast - the award-winning Smartphone Nation and is writing 'Wonders of India’, a book to be published in 2025 by Aleph Publications, an imprint of Rupa. He is a market researcher who is deeply passionate about meeting new people and learning what makes them tick.

Deepak ‘Chuck’ Gopalakrishnan

You may know him from:

Simblified, The Origin Of Things, Getting Meta, The Third Slip, Things of Internet, and various music curation projects.

Chuck has conceptualised and led projects across formats - podcasts, newsletters, an online digital marketing course. He ran cult.fit’s fitness podcast, and has authored marketing case studies for The Hard Copy. He teaches digital marketing and content creation to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He spends a lot of time overthinking about content, usually while doing a needlessly long cycling ride in the Sahyadris.

Meet your mentors

Learn from folks who have built global 2% content projects across formats while balancing demanding day jobs. Combined, your mentors have millions of listens/reads with top-rated content projects. They have also been involved in guiding others (notably, both were mentors for Spotify - IFP’s Podcast Lab program in 2021).

Both of us have had experience in turning our unique worldview, interests and even curiosities into long-standing content projects. We’ve also faced failure and self-doubt - making us the right folks to learn from so you can avoid those pitfalls!

Utsav Mamoria

You may know him from:

Postcards from Nowhere, India's leading Travel, Culture and History podcast with over 500k listens, rated 4.8/5 on Spotify.

Utsav took his love for slow travel and turned it into a beloved podcast that frequently turns up on year-end Spotify Wrapped lists. The show has reinforced his own love for slow travel and has led to several opportunities - including a branded podcast and (coming soon!) a book titled 'Wonders of India’, to be published in 2025 by Aleph Publications, an imprint of Rupa.

He also happens to be a market researcher who is deeply passionate about meeting new people and learning new things about them.

Simblified, The Origin Of Things, Getting Meta, The Third Slip, Things of Internet, various music curation projects.

Chuck has conceptualised and led several content projects across formats - podcasts, newsletters, even his own online course for digital marketers. He ran cult.fit’s fitness podcast, and has authored marketing case studies for The Hard Copy. He teaches digital marketing and content creation to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and has mentored several young (and old!) folks to bring their ideas to life.

And he spends a lot of time overthinking about content in general, usually while doing a needlessly long cycling ride in the Sahyadris.

Guest Masterclasses

We constantly try to give cohort members more value, and experience beyond just our own. Towards this, we give them a peek inside the brains of some of India’s top creators - their processes, systems, and even challenges.

We curate a diverse list of guests and rotate them across cohorts. If you sign up for our program, you get access to all past and future guest masterclasses - in the form of recordings or live session invites.

He has done all this while balancing a senior role at TCS.

Ashok’s masterclass is on Feb 1 (Saturday), 11:30 - 1 pm

She also teaches a writing course for aspiring creators and storytellers. She is a former civil servant and development sector professional. Her experience involves managing media relations and publicity for the PMO, designing a rural toilet use campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission (which led to a book and a Harvard case study).

We may add new masterclasses over and  above these. All attendees will have access to past guest masterclass recordings as well.

A constantly updated
knowledge base

Content and creation keeps evolving. To enhance our own understanding and draw in multiple perspectives, we at The 6% Club have built our own video interview series:
To Your Heart’s Content
.

To Your Heart's Content has been chosen as a winner in
the Rising Star 2024 category by Hubhopper.

These are in-depth conversations with some of India’s top creators, and thinkers in the
business of content. Much of the insights make their way into our program, hence
becoming a knowledge base that gives back to the program you sign up for!

Note:

  • Live sessions are 1.5-2 hours each. A masterclass is 1.5 hours.
  • All sessions are delivered over Zoom, and members will have access to
    recordings for life.
  • Masterclass session dates might change - as might minor parts of the above schedule - but you will be notified well in advance, and receive recordings in any case.
  • Over and above these, you will have breakout sessions for community interaction and support, peer review sessions, maybe another masterclass, and a few other surprises too!

Do I need an idea before I join?

Absolutely not. In fact, most of our cohort members find their true idea only after our sessions on finding their big idea. You may want to join the program just because you want to explore a new hobby or build a creative outlet.

I have multiple ideas! What should I do?!

We will work with you to see which of the ideas to prioritise. Don’t be surprised if we find a way to combine your ideas - making it an even sharper, even more YOU idea.

What if I’m not able to launch in 45 days?

We will provide extended support. Not all content projects (and indeed creators) are built equally. Some just take a lot more time to get off the ground, even with the best intent.

What will you not cover?

Technical aspects such as editing, though we are happy to point you towards resources for the same. Secondly, since this program is around project launch, we don’t cover project growth in detail. Finally, this is not an “algorithm-hacking” program - while we do share some advice, it is not the focus of the program.

What if I miss a class over the weekend?

Don’t worry, we got you covered. The recorded sessions will be hosted on a private YouTube channel with lifetime access provided. All the assignments and worksheets will be available on a Google drive as well.

What’s this about a 100% money-back guarantee?

Yes. We’ll offer it - but only if you complete, produce and publish 2 episodes and feel that the program did not help you.

Will you help with technical aspects like gear, editing software etc.?

Yes. We will work with you to get sorted on gear - cameras, mics, lights etc, based on the budget you have. These will be separately run sessions for those looking to become Podcasters / YouTubers.

My question is not listed here. What should I do?

Just click the WhatsApp icon on the bottom right of your screen, and reach out to us. Utsav personally answers any and every question you have.
